China Southern Airlines inaugurates Beijing-Macau route and plans to add 17
international routes, including Amsterdam, London, Doha, Riyadh, and Tehran,
signaling optimism for increased international travel. Despite a slow recovery
in China's international airline industry post-pandemic, China Southern aims to
reach 85% of 2019 route levels by year-end. The airline reported a
4.1-billion-yuan annual loss, citing factors like weak consumer spending and
fuel costs. China's aviation regulator anticipates international flights
reaching 80% of pre-COVID levels by 2024-end.
