The State of Tourism in Nepal
Nepal, a country steeped in natural beauty and cultural richness, has witnessed a remarkable surge in tourism. Notably, the month of October has proven to be a milestone, surpassing pre-2019 figures. The positive outlook reflects a promising trajectory for Nepal's tourism industry, and Marriott plays a significant role in contributing to this success.

A unique aspect of Marriott's hospitality is the harmonious coexistence between foreign and local patrons. While foreign guests dominate room bookings, various services attract a significant number of local visitors. This blend creates a diverse and inclusive atmosphere within Marriott's establishments.

Marriott, known for its openness to change, welcomes the influx of new hotels in Nepal. This surge is not seen as a challenge but as an opportunity to enhance the country's global appeal. The addition of star hotels and branded accommodations is anticipated to elevate Nepal's position on the international hospitality stage.
Marriott: A Global Standard
As the world's largest hospitality company, Marriott sets itself apart with a unique management model. Acknowledging Marriott's premium status, the challenge of balancing luxury with accessibility is addressed. The commitment to delivering on promises ensures that the quality of service matches the high expectations associated with the Marriott brand.

In your perspective, how would you describe the current state of tourism in Nepal?
From my viewpoint, I hold an optimistic outlook on the present state of tourism in Nepal. The trend is undeniably positive, with a noticeable growth in numbers. Notably, October marked a significant milestone as it surpassed the figures from 2019. The tourist arrival in Kathmandu, for the first time in the last four years, has exceeded previous records. Looking forward, I believe this is just the beginning; the potential for tourism in Nepal is immense, and the trajectory indicates a continuous upward trend. We stand at a pivotal point, and the numbers are poised to consistently rise, reflecting the high potential and promising future of tourism in the region.
What are your views on sustainability, and how is it integrated into your hotel's practices?
Sustainability, to me, is a lifestyle necessity ingrained in our daily routines. At Marriott, we've taken significant initiatives in this regard, being the sole LEED Gold certified hotel in Nepal. Our commitment includes energy-saving measures like LED lights, solar panels, and utilizing abundant hydropower. Strategic use of glass in our hotels allows for natural light while a special film maintains room temperatures by blocking infrared rays. We're also dedicated to water conservation, recycling double the amount we extract from the ground. To curb plastic usage, we repurposed 8000 water bottles into a Christmas tree last year and sold bottles painted by HIV-infected kids this year, contributing to sustainability and social causes. In essence, sustainability is not just a choice; it's an environmental imperative.
Could you highlight the facilities offered at your hotel?
Certainly! We take pride in providing diverse facilities for our guests. Our recreational room features a ping pong table, play zone, and kickboxing facilities. Exclusive classes like yoga, meditation, and swimming are available, with trained instructors in the gym. Unique to us, we have the only underwater music system in Nepal, offering a delightful experience for music enthusiasts while swimming. Our Amwellness Spa, with four treatment rooms, including a salon, Jacuzzi, steam, and sauna, is a standout feature in the city. Additionally, our Raksi venue hosts Sassi Salsa Night every Saturday, making it a perfect spot for music and dance enthusiasts.
