After
being closed since 2046 BS (1989 AD), Tikapur Airport is set to resume regular
operations from December 16, thanks to the efforts of Tikapur Municipality. The
municipality has partnered with Tara Air and Yeti Airlines to facilitate flight
services.
Tikapur Municipality Mayor Ram Lal Dagoura Tharu confirmed an agreement with Tara Air to secure a minimum of 15 seats for flights, ensuring smoother operations. Test flights have already been conducted by Nepal Airlines, and Tara Air successfully completed one commercial flight. Tara Air will operate flights on Sundays and Thursdays. Fares are set at NPR 9,000 for Kathmandu-Tikapur and NPR 4,500 for Nepalgunj-Tikapur. Flights will depart Nepalgunj at 12:30 PM and return from Tikapur at 1:20 PM. Yeti Airlines will connect Kathmandu-Nepalgunj at 10:00 AM and return from Nepalgunj-Kathmandu at 2:05 PM.
Tickets
are available via Tara Air and Yeti Airlines’ official websites, sales offices,
and platforms such as eSewa, Khalti, and PhonePe. Local ticketing support is
available at Siddhartha Hotel in Tikapur and Pathil Holiday in Kathmandu.
Tara Air, equipped with three Twin
Otter aircraft, regularly operates scheduled and chartered flights to
destinations like Lukla, Phaplu, Ramechhap, Jomsom, Dolpa, Simikot, Bajura, and
